Rivers State Government Demolishes Hideout of Cult Group in Rumuolumeni

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, supervised the demolition of a structure in Rumuolumeni. The structure is said to be the hideout of a suspected notorious cultist in the state.

The criminal identified as Munachim Ihunwo was said to have a camp with about 200 boys. Lieutenant Colonel Unaogu revealed this while briefing the Governor. He also said Ihunwo and his boys were arrested in their hideout which had human skulls and a tunnel.

Nyesom Wike commended the joint efforts of the Police and Army in fighting crime in the state. The Governor said that the land where the demolished building was will be acquired by the State Government, to build a police station.

“The Rivers State Government has taken over the criminal hideout of these arrested cultists. After the ongoing demolition of their hideout, we will build a police station and mini barracks in this location. We have also taken over the home of the kingpin that we have also demolished.

“This is to let members of the public know that this administration is serious. We will not allow anyone to cause insecurity in this state. We will chase criminals to their hideout and recover crime.”

The Governor reiterated his offer of amnesty to repentant cultists in the state.

“Let them submit their arms and we will give them amnesty.”
