Rivers
State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has assured the residents of Diobu in Port
Harcourt City local government area that the Iloabuchi-Eagle Island road
project will be delivered in three weeks.
Governor
Wike gave the assurance on Monday after inspecting the entire stretch of the
road from the Eagle Island axis to the Iloabuchi end of the road.
The
governor who was briefed by the contractor that the non-payment of outstanding
fees delayed the completion of the road, promised to pay the outstanding
contract sum on Wednesday this week: His words: "I tell you now that by
Wednesday, that is the day after tomorrow, we will give him the money and in
three weeks time he must have completed this road”
Governor
Wike enjoined residents to give the contractor the maximum support needed to
enable him complete the road within the specified period.
“So,
I want all of you to give the contractor the needed support so that he can
finishes the work within three weeks”, he advised.
At
the Dr. Peter Odili/Woji-Akpajo by-pass road, the contractor assured the
governor that one lane of the road project will be completed within one hundred
days.
Governor
Wike promised to release money on monthly basis to the contractor to ensure
speedy completion of the road.
The
governor also inspected an on-going work on the faculty of law building at the
Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.
